PISTOIA, CAPITAL OF CULTURE

Located 20 minutes from Florence and Lucca, Pistoia also has much to offer in terms of history, art, monuments, traditions, nature and cuisine. For these reasons Pistoia was appointed as 2017 Italy's Capital of Culture.

Walking through the picturesque streets of its historic center, visitors will find many good restaurants that offer authentic dishes of the Tuscan tradition, as well as local wines, at fair prices.  Very interesting is the huge market that takes place on the monumental Piazza del Duomo and surrounding streets twice a week. Pistoia also offers one of the major zoological gardens in Italy.
To visit, nearby, Vinci with the Leonardian museum, Montecatini with its thermal baths, the medieval villages of Valdinievole including Collodi, the town of Pinocchio, the Butterfly House and Villa Garzoni.
