Villa Morelli Gualtierotti

A “Palace of Justice” in the forest.

The house is an early twentieth century Art Nouveau building recently restored, according to its original style, with care and attention for the details. It is situated in a peaceful hamlet, surrounded by a large park with centennial beech and oak trees.

In the year 1900 Sen. Gismondo Morelli Gualtierotti, Minister of the Kingdom of Italy, built a villa on a dominant position upon a hill overlooking the Reno Valley, only one kilometer from his other property of “Le Panche”. During his function, he decided to build a dependance next to the main villa, using it as his advocate's cabinet.

The architect who designed this building is said to be the same of the Supreme Court palace in Rome, hence this dependance has always been called “Palazzo di Giustizia” (Palace of Justice). The façade’s eclectic style was very trendy at the time but quite unusual in a rural area such as the Apennines of Pistoia.

At the villa’s ground floor guests will find a modern kitchen and a large bright living room with a characteristic Art Nouveau glass window over the natural setting.

Pretty curved stairs take to the upper floors where six bedrooms, all supplied with en-suite bathrooms, are located. All the different rooms are furnished with an astonishing combination of original ancient furniture, Bauhaus style pieces and contemporary design elements.

Behind the Palazzo, the beautiful private grounds lead gradually to the swimming pool area, enriched with contemporary Carrara marble sculptures. This unique location provides endless outdoor opportunities such as walking excursions, mountain bike and horse riding.

From the first floor, guests will also have access to the rear garden fully equipped with outdoor furniture (tables, chairs, beach beds and umbrellas) and a barbecue overlooking the swimming pool.

In addition to the Villa, for larger groups, a cosy apartment next to the swimming pool is available for rent. The “Big Oak apartment” is composed of two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a living area with a kitchen.
